Stormwater Regulations and Erosion Control

The City of Winston-Salem also adopted new stormwater regulations which provide for stricter requirements on projects with over 24% impervious surface area. These regulations contain new stream buffer requirements which will improve stormwater runoff and water quality. The County relies on the State to administer stormwater management requirements applicable to the county jurisdiction.

The Erosion Control Ordinance was updated in 2005 and amendments and revisions to the Watershed Management Regulations have been put in place. Revised Planned Residential Development regulations were established which require better quality and in some cases greater amounts of open space in a new subdivision which clusters building lots.
